Kölner Flüchtlingsrat

Brand relaunch for Kölner Flüchtlingsrat e.V. (Cologne Refugee Council): in workshops, we worked out the brand identity and developed a new visual identity from it.

A visual identity for equal rights

Kölner Flüchtlingsrat e.V. helps refugees obtain their rights. Its mission: equal rights for all people, regardless of nationality.

The relaunch was initiated by a member of the council's staff. Our first task was to win the management and the board over to a new brand presence.

From workshop to sign

Brand identity in workshops

After the official project start, we worked out the council's brand identity together with its public relations team in a series of workshops. It forms the basis of the new visual identity.

The sign

The central feature is a stylized equals sign. It translates the mission into an image: equal rights for all people, regardless of nationality. Because the sign is set on a diagonal, a second layer emerges: it recalls flags and placards at demonstrations.

Applications

The visual identity comes to life in applications ranging from the flag, poster, brochure, business cards and roll-up banner to social media posts, a mug and a tote bag. The project also included a logo archive, presentations and press releases.

Working with Design Republic is really great. They always manage to quickly turn even the seemingly simplest and roughest briefing ideas into solutions that do not just fit our organization but are tailored to it precisely.
